Here Be Dragons…
Our Story…
Chick and Jaidy were neighbors that met on January 1, 2022. We started dating in October 2022 after Jaidy returned from a transformative trip to Alchemy in Atlanta, GA. We fell hard for each other at Love Burn in 2023 while rangering at RES Camp. Since then we’ve been navigating how to best stay true to ourselves while in this relationship. We have tremendous amounts of passion and high standards of behavior for ourselves and those we spend time with. We continue to work to integrate each other and the people we love into our lives.
Charles J “Chick” Adams
Chick (he/him) was born and raised in Utah. His childhood included roaming the outdoors of Toquerville with friends and family and playing competitive Dota. He married young and eventually moved with his wife, Stephanie, to Draper, where they met and befriended their neighbor Jaidy, who was also a Burner that lived across the street. Chick currently works as a DevOps Engineer in Utah County.
Jennifer D. “Jaidy” Carlston
Jaidy (they/she) was born in Southern Colorado, but spent most of their life in Northern Utah on their grandparent’s hobby farm. She attended the sport school there in the summer doing things like riding horses, swimming and shooting hoops. In the winter they went skiing and play in the snow.
Jaidy met and married young to Scott, who remains a best friend to this day. Together they have two children, Nova and Trillie, as well as a fluffy cat named Stormy.
Volunteering and community has also been a big aspect of Jaidy’s life. They were involved in the Masonic community of service since childhood and have acted as a green dot ranger and Sanctuary Cabinet Lead for Element 11 since 2022. Jaidy currently is employed as an Engineering Director at Stack Overflow.
As an initiate on the path of The Great Work, Jaidy enjoys learning and exploring what this life has to offer. She asks “What better way to spend my free time being exactly who I feel called to be at any given point in time. Labels only point to the truth—whether that’s being a parent, a friend, an engineer, a world-traveler, an artist, a singer/songwriter, or a lover? Its all encompassed by my sacred path.”
Jaidy is proud to be queer and believes this identity can be used to allow people to love themselves and others more fully. She hopes that our Love Burn wedding ceremony will allow the participants to bring awareness to the parts of themselves that they’ve rejected—labeled broken, misfit, or undeserving. These parts offer the most precious gifts in our lives.
They love Chick with their entire being. She is excited for our friends and family to bear witness and celebrate what we’ve found together.
