Magickal Creatures

Our Story…

Chick and Jaidy were neighbors that met on January 1, 2022.

We started dating in October 2022 after Jaidy returned from a transformative trip to Alchemy in Atlanta, GA.

We fell hard for each other at Love Burn in 2023 while rangering at RES Camp. That caused a huge shift in both of our lives that continues to this day.

Since then we’ve been navigating how to best stay true to ourselves while in this relationship. We have tremendous amounts of passion and high standards of behavior for ourselves and those we spend time with. We continue to work to integrate each other and the people we love into our lives.

We hope that, through this celebration, and by us sharing the love we have with others, we—all of us—build a strong, heart-centered community together.

Our Commitment…

We are committing to love and live our lives together. The knot we are tying will be never-not-broken. Just as each of us is constantly being created and destroyed, we continue to exist.

Relationships are agreements that can and must evolve with the people in them. The meaning found in what we are building allows for adaptability and resilience, rupture and repair.

We seek kindness and ease in our partnership while still allowing for passion and truth in our commitments to ourselves and each other.

“Chick” - Charles J . Adams

Chick (he/him) was born and raised in Southern Utah. His childhood included roaming the outdoors of Toquerville with friends and family and developing a strong interest in gaming and gaming culture. He married young and eventually moved with his wife, Stephanie, to Northern Utah, where they met and befriended their neighbor Jaidy, who was also a Burner that lived across the street. He has a profound curiosity for life and a passion for learning all kinds of skills and subjects. He has developed a deep appreciation of music, as well as fashion, travel, and food. He is always on the look out for a tasty Hazy IPA or new music release that piques his interest and imagination. Chick is educated as an electrical engineer and currently works in DevOps at LVT in Utah County.

“Jaidy” - Jennifer D. Carlston

Jaidy (they/she) was born in Southern Colorado, but spent most of their life in Northern Utah in their grandparent’s sport school and farm. She spent summers riding horses, swimming and shooting hoops, among many other activities. In the winter they went skiing and played in the snow.

Jaidy met and married young to Scott, who remains a best friend to this day. Together they have two children, Nova and Trillie, as well as a fluffy cat named Stormy.

Volunteering and community has also been a big aspect of Jaidy’s life. They were involved in the Masonic community of service since childhood and have acted as a green dot ranger and Sanctuary Cabinet Lead for Element 11 since 2022. Jaidy is currently employed as an Engineering Director at Stack Overflow.

  • …because there’s a lot to share that’s important to her.

As an initiate on the path of The Great Work, Jaidy enjoys learning and exploring what this life has to offer.

“What better way to spend our free time being exactly who we feel called to be? Labels only point toward the truth—whether that’s being a parent, a friend, an artist, or a lover. Being alive can be a continuously transcendent experience.”

Jaidy believes being queer allows people to love themselves and others more fully. They hope that this Love Burn wedding ceremony will allow participants to bring awareness to the parts of themselves that they’ve rejected—labeled broken, misfit, or undeserving. These parts offer some of the most profound and precious gifts of wisdom in our lives.

We are excited for our friends and family to celebrate with us.
